Most restrictions are easing as long as we take care and respect others.

New rules mean more freedoms for us all, and here are some of the key changes.

Mask Wearing

  • You will need to wear a mask on public transport, planes, and at airports
  • if you work indoors in hospitality and are not fully vaccinated
  • Some businesses may continue requiring people to wear a mask as a condition of entry to protect the well-being of staff and customers.

However, wearing a mask is still encouraged when you can't socially distance yourself and when indoors. Remember, Social distancing is 1.5m, so don't get too close or block doorways.

Capacity limits

There are no capacity limits, and most venues are open to everyone.

COVID Safe check-ins

COVID Safe check-ins are only required for high-contact venues, including

  • hospitals, aged and disability care facilities
  • gyms
  • places of worship, funerals or memorial services
  • personal services, e.g. hairdressers and beauty salons
  • pubs, small bars and registered clubs, nightclubs
  • indoor music festivals with over 1,000 people.

Proof of vaccination

Proof of vaccination is no longer required at most venues except for indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.

Some businesses may continue requiring customers to be fully vaccinated and can request proof of vaccination as a condition of entry to protect the well-being of staff and customers.

Stay safe with rapid antigen testing

If you’re planning on seeing friends and family, consider taking a rapid antigen test. Regular testing can prevent you spreading COVID-19 to others.

You can also check if you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 while visiting a high-contact venue. For the most effective screening you should do two rapid antigen tests within a week.

If you have any COVID-19 symptoms you should not have a rapid antigen test, and instead have a standard PCR test performed at a testing clinic. This is the only test that can confirm if you have COVID-19.
